Your Team will include the best available legal and
non-legal professionals with the expertise to address your specific
environmental issues. As explained in ELN Philosophy, we will help you find
the best attorney and other team members for your specific issue, even if
that excludes ELN. Unlike many attorneys in larger firms who accept matters
with which they have little familiarity in order to meet billable hour
requirements and support exorbitant overhead costs, we provide an honest
appraisal of our expertise and will often refer clients to other attorneys
or professionals who can more effectively address your specific issue. If we
decide ELN is best for you, the following explains how we build Your Team.
|
| Douglas Morrison founded Environmental Law Northwest in
2002. After 8 years as “in house” corporate counsel, and 8 more years as a
“big firm” attorney, he formed ELN to increase the focus on service to
clients and to provide more cost effective solutions to environmental
problems. The details and history of his career and education are detailed
in his resume. Doug practices in Oregon, Washington and Alaska, and can
bring a wealth of knowledge on how other jurisdictions are handling a matter
to help influence your case. |

Doug is well known for his expertise in the field of air
quality and Clean Air Act matters. He frequently speaks at conferences and
educational seminars, and is a longstanding member and participant in the
Air & Waste Management Association and its Pacific Northwest International
Section (PNWIS). In addition to his Bar Memberships, he is also a long time
member of TAPPI, the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper
Association.
He has a proven track record of achieving successful outcomes for clients as
detailed in the Success Stories. You may also be interested in his
commitment to Community Service.
Other Attorneys. ELN associates with other independent attorneys as needed. This provides the highest degree of flexibility and assures that we put
together the best team for each project. If your case appears destined for
litigation, we will assist you in finding the best courtroom attorney
available. If the case presents novel legal issues that require significant
legal research, we have available skilled research attorneys to do that
work.
Technical and Scientific Consultants. Cost effective resolution of many
environmental issues requires the participation of a team member with
technical or scientific skills. ELN has extensive contacts within the
consulting community and can find the person or firm that is positioned best
to assist on any given project. It is imperative that your consultant have
knowledge and experience in the regulatory arena, and we know who the
experts are. Our experience is that many environmental engineers and
scientists who have worked in the field for some time are more adept at the
functions normally provided by paralegals, legal assistants and even
associates at the larger law firms. This includes functions as simple as
document handling and management to more difficult functions such as
regulatory research. |
